The veil of secrecy surrounding the state’s golden visa scheme, otherwise known as the Immigrant Investor Programme (IIP), is rarely pierced. Set up in 2012 in the depths of the recession to stimulate the Irish economy, the IIP grants residency permits to wealthy non-EEA nationals in exchange for a €1 million investment.
