There are two types of insurance brokers in Ireland at present: those looking to consolidate the industry and those that are being consolidated. Primarily backed by a wall of international private equity, a small number of large brokers are currently on a land grab in Ireland, all seeking to gain a foothold in a potentially lucrative market. It has prompted a wave of dealmaking, with close to 30 transactions closing in the last two years.
