Law firm McCann Fitzgerald understood Bank of Ireland would pay a portion of Brendan Mullin’s legal fees in a personal litigation matter, the trial of the former rugby international has heard. On or around March 27, 2013, the chief legal officer of the bank contacted the law firm raising questions about a series of invoices discharged on Mullin’s behalf by the private investment arm of BOI.
