A secretary at the law firm McCann Fitzgerald has spoken of her alarm at Brendan Mullin returning, by courier, an invoice issued by the firm, marked up with various amendments to the bill which she found “very peculiar”. The trial has heard that Rosie Freeman, a personal assistant to partner Roddy Burke in the firm’s litigation practice, received a note from Mullin on March 8, 2013 that said: “Attached is a copy of the invoice sent but with handwritten proposed amendments.” The amendments included a line crossing out the September 2012 invoice date and the addressee.
