Former rugby international Brendan Mullin appeared “completely shocked” when quizzed by Bank of Ireland about invoice payments to the law firm McCann Fizgerald, his trial has heard. The 60-year-old former bank executive is said to have sat for a while in silence when challenged about certain invoice payments discharged by the bank, before explaining that their authorisation had been due to carelessness on his part.
