Back in 2020, during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, Aventis Solutions, a UK-based recruitment firm and medical supplier to the NHS, was awarded an £18 million (€21.5 million) public contract to supply face masks for health workers in Britain. To fund the purchase of PPE, 42 million face masks from China, the company entered into a short-term trade finance agreement with Irish company Credebt Exchange. But a row broke out over the fees charged by Credebt under the arrangement, with Aventis claiming the Dublin-based finance house improperly deducted a three per cent charge of £528,000 on the invoice…
