Jean-Philippe Charpentier, chairman of the Verizon European Works Council (EWC), is bringing a case against the Irish arm of the telecoms giant to the High Court.  The suit seeks to overturn a Labour Court ruling that Verizon Ireland Ltd doesn’t have to cover the costs he incurred attending a Brexit-related EWC training conference in Hamburg in 2021. The case, originally filed with the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) and subsequently appealed to the Labour Court, focuses on whether Verizon fulfilled its obligations under the Transnational Information and Consultation of Employees Act, 1996 (TICEA), which governs the operation of EWCs in Ireland.…
