Taoiseach Simon Harris renewed on Sunday the pledge of €50 million from the Irish Exchequer for the GAA’s Casement Park stadium in west Belfast. Apparently, he had told UK premier Keir Starmer earlier in the week that the Government would contribute €50 million towards the cost even if Starmer’s government backed off. The expectation had been that the 34,000 capacity re-development, the stadium has been derelict for over a decade, would cost €306 million, with €15 million offered by the GAA, €50 million by the Irish Government and the balance to be found by the Stormont executive, currently in dispute…
