Eight summers back, a handful of Irish journalists were hoping someone else would go to the bar in our few hours left in Reykjavik. There too was Martin Connolly, Dundalk Football Club’s general manager. A former reserve goalkeeper for the club, ‘The Town’ has long been a massive part of his being.  Having overcome FH (short for Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar) on aggregate, Dundalk would now play Belarusian team BATE Borisov, and Connolly and I spent much of that evening debating where the game should be held.
