In a knock-out blow to Ireland and Apple’s hopes of salvaging the legality of their pre-2015 tax agreements, Europe’s top court this Tuesday not only quashed their previously successful appeal from 2020, but the Court of Justice of the EU also gave European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager a straight win during her final days in the job.
