The businessman who owned the Iceland franchise in Ireland before its collapse last year has initiated High Court proceedings against online publication, The Journal. Naeem Maniar filed what The Currency understands to be a summons for a defamation suit against Journal Media Ltd on Friday through the law firm Meagher Solicitors. His company, Project Point Technologies Ltd, also initiated a separate action against the news website. Project Point is the parent company of the failed Iceland franchisee Metron Stores Ltd. Metron Stores went into liquidation last September after talks with the retail giant Tesco to save the troubled business failed…
