Michael Cawley, the former deputy chief executive of Ryanair, is one of 10 directors activist investor Elliott Management wants to put on the board of Southwest Airlines. Elliott Management, founded by billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Singer, has a seven per cent direct stake in Southwest and controls four per cent more of its shares indirectly.
