Earlier this month, the Director of Public Prosecutions Catherine Pierse used her Annual Report for 2022 to make an unprecedented public plea for what she described as “greater collaboration between all areas of the criminal justice system.” The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), now almost 50 years in operation, is traditionally a “silent service”, never explaining, never complaining, at least publicly.
