Last weekend, 40 Wexford racehorse trainers sent a petition to Fianna Fáil Minister for State James Browne asking him to amend the Gambling Regulation bill removing the prohibition of gambling ads being shown during daylight hours. The trainers want an exemption for the dedicated racing channels; the chief executive officers of both Racing TV and Sky Sports Racing have already sounded their klaxons and said the enactment of the bill in its current format would have a “devastating impact” and make it “economically unviable” to continue their operations in Ireland.
