French lawmakers have passed a new law with the stated aim of reinforcing maritime transport safety, by imposing minimum wage and working conditions on ferry companies docking in French ports.  The law mandates that all cross-Channel passenger shipping companies, regardless of where they are registered, must adhere to a minimum wage based on the minimum hourly rate established for the same sector in France.
