Dawn Meats, the Waterford-headquartered meat processing company owned jointly by the Queally and Browne families, is selling the 49 per cent stake it owns in its French counterpart Elivia, the companies announced today. Dawn Meats and Elivia each are the number two beef processor in their respective countries and also sell lower volumes of other meats. The French farmers’ co-op Terrena invited the Irish company in to turn around its meat processing arm Elivia in 2015 at a time when it was facing declining sales and profitability.
